Health Coverage Decision-Making; Workshop I

Demystifying the Current Health Insurance Market for Small Nonprofits

We are in a continual period of uncertainty when it comes to the health insurance landscape for nonprofits. Federal attempts to repeal the Affordable care Act and state changes to health insurance leave us unsure as to what is real and what is not. This workshop will simplify help to demystify the status of health insurance in New York. Attendees will gain a better understanding of the changes to the New York Health Insurance landscape, the NYS Exchange and how they may prepare, or even benefit, from those changes. In addition, attendees will gain a better understanding of how New York State health insurance regulations and the Affordable Care Act come together to affect the choices employers and employees make with respect to their health plans. In addition, the session will provide an overview of alternative funding options such as FSA, HRA and HSA’s and how using these options may create better plans for you and your staff.
