Event host: Behind the Book
Behind the Book's 15th Anniversary Benefit

Join us as Behind the Book celebrates 15 years of bringing books to life for New York City public school students!

About Behind the Book

Behind the Book brings authors and their books directly into classrooms as part of comprehensive literacy programs that get students excited about reading and writing. Through a series of workshops students read a book, meet that book's author, learn about the writing process and create final art and writing projects. Since the organization's founding in 2003, we’ve served more than 14,500 students and donated more than 40,000 books.

Honoring

In addition to celebrating our 15th year anniversary, we will also be honoring two individuals whose work in children’s publishing embodies our mission: Judy Newman, Reader-in-Chief and President of Scholastic Book Clubs and e-Commerce platforms at Scholastic, and Renée Watson, the New York Times bestselling author, educator and activist.

Join Us

Join us on November 8 at the Strand Rare Book Room to celebrate this historic milestone, support Behind the Book’s continued growth and impact, and ensure that Title I public school students in New York City can have access to these programs for years to come. It will be a fun filled night with drinks, music, and much more!
